Inner-Truth Counselling and Psychotherapy is located inside the Phoenix Holistic Health Centre and managed by Jenean Walters. Jenean is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Accredited EMDR Practitioner who has worked in mental health and trauma fields for over 20 years, supporting individuals and their families across the age span.
Jenean has an extensive psychotherapy background supporting people to heal their trauma. She uses a staged model of trauma recovery so that therapy is paced for where the client is at in their healing journey. Jenean is an Accredited EMDR Practitioner including using attachment focused EMDR to help those with childhood relational trauma. She is also a qualified Regression Therapist.
Jenean’s therapeutic approaches are underlined by neurobiological processes and techniques that support processing trauma experiences at the nervous system and body level. Her regression therapy training included developing skills in somatic trauma processing through targeting body memories allowing trauma experiences to be released and re-framed at a somatic level so that the body knows the trauma is over and no longer needs to be triggered by sensory cues. Jenean also helps clients to process trauma at an emotional level leading to increased capacity to feel their feelings in a way that isn’t overwhelming. She helps client to have new perspectives of what happened to them and have an improved sense of self. Clients are able to change old trauma patterns feeling empowered in their relationships with themselves and others as well as how they navigate the world.
Jenean will support clients with psychoeducation which helps them to understand where their symptoms are coming from and developing strategies that support increased ability to be able to manage and feel more stable. Alongside EMDR and Regression Therapy, Jenean has training in a wide range of approaches such as CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Polyvagal, IFS/ego state approaches which she integrates as needed. Above all, Jenean recognises the importance of the therapeutic relationship and works to build trust and work in partnership, giving clients choice over therapy approaches, is transparent around assessment and shares her knowledge so that clients can make choices and empower themselves in their healing journey. Jenean recognises that clients know themselves the best and works to supporting them to access their strengths and work to recovery in a way that is right for them.

- Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (2021)
- Accredited EMDR Practitioner (2024)

Fees and Rebates:
The fee is $200 for a 60 minute session. Payment is due within 24 hours and can be paid either direct or deducted from your account after the session.
If eligible, you may receive a $85.20 Medicare rebate. Medicare rebates are accessed via a GP or Psychiatrist referral under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) for eligible patients. This provides a rebate for up to 10 consults per calendar year. For more information, refer to the Medicare website.
Private health insurance rebates may be available to you through BUPA, HCF and Teachers Health. Please contact your insurance provider to determine the rebate you are entitled to.
Cancelled and missed appointments:
Please do not attend if you are unwell, your appointment can be provided by telehealth instead.
It is understood that unexpected circumstances can arise and appointments may have to be rescheduled at times. Please give as much notice as possible if you cannot attend an appointment. This supports someone else to use this appointment time.
48 hour notice is required to re-schedule otherwise late cancellation fees are charged.
