Sherry is a registered psychologist with over 20 years community services experience and over 15 years clinical/counselling experience working with adults, adolescents, and children. Sherry aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals to increase their self-awareness and develop towards their full potential.

Children’s Counselling – Sherry also works with children with a variety of issues including anxiety, separation anxiety, depression, OCD and related disorders, parental separation and conflict, behavioural difficulties, anger management and self-esteem issues.

Sherry uses an integrated therapeutic approach to counselling and psychotherapy tailoring the intervention to meet the unique needs of the client. Approaches may include Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Psychodynamic approaches, Expressive Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, Directive and Non-directive Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT-Tapping) and Simple Energy Technique (SET), Clinical Hypnosis and Spiritually Oriented Psychotherapy.

Since starting in private practice in 2013, Sherry has been working with children, adolescents and adults primarily in the areas of depression, anxiety and panic attacks, eating, weight and body image, as well as obsessive-compulsive related disorders and grief and loss.

Prior to private practice Sherry had extensive experience working for a variety of non-government agencies. Some of which include working at an adolescent mental health services with adolescents and their families experiencing depression, self-harm and suicidal ideation. She has co-ordinated a drug and alcohol service for adolescents and adults experiencing difficulties related to their own or another’s drug and alcohol use and co-occurring mental health issues. Sherry has worked counselling children and adolescents who have experienced parental separation and family conflict. She has experience running groups related to drug and alcohol use, parenting, grief and loss, family and relationships, bullying and friendships, self-esteem, and parental separation.

Sherry is fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency). She is also a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the Australia Association of Psychologist (AAPi), the International Society of Schema Therapists, and a member of the EMDR Association of Australia. She is also a member of the Transpersonal Psychology Interest Group (APS) and the Eating, Weight and Body Image Interest Group (APS).

Fees

The current recommended fee by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) is $280.

The standard fees for after hours (4.30pm onwards on weekdays) and weekend sessions with Sherry are;

$320 for the initial consultation and,

$280 per subsequent session.

The reduced fees for the day time sessions (before 4.30pm weekdays) with Sherry are;

$280 for the initial consultation and,

$240 per subsequent session.
